There is so much more to Liloan than its world-famous rosquillos and century-old lighthouse, the two things that immediately come to mind when speaking of the town.

Its industries, for example, would show a booming furniture craft that’s a sheer fascinating mix of both traditional and avante garde.

Whether it be the pottery that could be easily seen along the road, or the various other products hidden amongst working communities dotting the hills or beside its seas, products of Liloan industries could be summed up under one principle: a fusion of art and quality.

And the number of industries in Liloan is growing. From 1,298 business permits issued in 2007, this year already saw 1,924 business permits issued so far.

The Municipal Government’s extensive efforts to make the town a business-friendly community has also paid off. Just last month, Liloan was identified by the Department of Trade and Industry as a pilot area for the implementation of a new business permit system after seeing that the municipality has an enabling environment for business.

From P3.037 million in 2007, the business taxes collected rose to P4.883 million this year. The local industries have given contribution to the strength of the town, and there is currently a plan to form a business chamber in Liloan in recognition of that.
