LOCATION

The municipality of Lilo-an lies on the eastern coast of Cebu Province. compose of 14 barangays and is part of the 5th district of cebu. it is bounded on the north and northeast by the municipality of Compostela, on the east by Camotes Sea, on the south and southwest by the municipality of Consolacion. It is one of the 6 municipalities and three cities that comprise Metro Cebu, lying on the outlying area of the metropolis and is approximately 19 kilometers from Cebu City. it has a total land area of 5,210 hectares or 1% of the total area of Cebu Province (508,844 Hectares).

LAND AREA AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISION

Fourteen barangays comprise Liloan¢s total land area of 5,210 hectares. These are Cabadiangan, Calero, Catarman, Cotcot, Jubay, Lataban, Mulao, Poblacion, San Roque, San Vicente, Santa Cruz , Tabla, Tayud and Yati.

Of the total land area, only around 19 percent are plains: the Poblacion and Barangays Cotcot, Yati, Catarman and Tayud. The mountains are mostly in Tabla, Mulao, San Roque, Lataban, Sta. Cruz and Cabadiangan. The rest are gently sloping hills (27 percent of the total area) and tidal flats covering fishponds or mangroves (2 percent).

Cabadiangan has the largest land area, which is 457 hectares while Catarman is the smallest barangay in terms of land area, with 230 hectares.

In terms of accessibility from the town proper, Barangays Mulao and Tabla are considered the farthest. It takes an hour of travel to reach both mountain barangays, which are the smallest in terms of density. On the other hand, Barangays Yati, which is immediately next to Consolacion town, Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Catarman are the most populated barangays. Barangays Jubay, Cotcot, Catarman and Tayud, all coastal areas with rich fishing ground, have the highest population density among the 14 barangays.
