Are all the weighing scales in our public markets truly accurate and fair to consumers?

To protect our marketgoers and ensure that every vendor practices honest trade, our Municipal Treasurer’s Office conducted a surprise inspection yesterday across our public markets. We want to guarantee that every buyer gets the exact weight and value for what they pay for.

We are pleased to report that the scales checked during yesterday’s operation were found to be accurate and compliant. However, vigilance remains our top priority. In fact, through the continuous, year-round campaign of our treasurer’s office against dishonest vendors, four tampered or rigged scales have already been confiscated in previous inspections since January.

This ongoing initiative serves as a stern warning to anyone attempting to shortchange our citizens. We will continue to monitor our markets closely to foster a fair, transparent, and honest local economy for both consumers and law-abiding vendors alike.
