LILOAN LAUNCHES OPERATION SECOND CHANCE FOR OVER 1200 DRUG SURRENDEREES

The Municipal Government of Liloan led by Mayor Christina Frasco and Vice Mayor Duke Frasco, led the launching of Liloan Operation Second Chance for the 1,260 drug personalities that have so far surrendered in their town.

Liloan Operation Second Chance offers to drug surrenderees a chance at a better life by offering free services in exchange for community service. The free services from the local government include livelihood skills training, health services, sports training clinics, counselling, and employment opportunities. It also offers community rehabilitation and rehab for minors by volunteer organizations.

Mayor Frasco conceptualized Operation Second Chance on her first day in office after over 40 drug personalities personally surrendered before her and expressed their desire to change and to no longer get involved in illegal drugs.

"To my mind, while the LGU is not in the position to waive criminal liability or pass judgment on these drug surrenderees, we can help them transition into becoming positive and productive members of society," Mayor Frasco said.

Mayor Frasco said further, "On National Heroes Day, we are reminded that we have, in each of us, the capacity to serve our country, and to be better citizens. We are hopeful that Operation Second Chance gives our drug surrenderees that very opportunity."

All municipal and barangay officials and the drug surrenderees signed a Pledge of Commitment and Covenant to support Operation Second Chance and other programs in Liloan where Mayor Frasco has expressed zero tolerance for illegal drugs, and all-out support for President Rodrigo Duterte's campaign against criminality.
