So happy to finally complete and turnover one of the biggest covered courts in ?#?Liloan? to ?#?Catarman? Elementary School in ?#?Barangay? Catarman , Liloan ?#?Cebu?.

After the turnover, one of the teachers told me that she has been teaching in ?#?CatarmanElementarySchool? for 27 years, it will only be this year, she says, that "dili na gyud mainitan ang mga estudyante" (the students will be protected from the heat of the sun) during their recognition rites.

As promised, right in time for their fiesta, we completed and inaugurated a concrete Footbridge in the mountain barangay of San Roque.

Previously, residents from the mountains of Purok Kawasan II in San Roque and Sitio Maylao in Brgy. Lataban had to cross a river to get to school, work, and to reach the town center. During heavy rains where the water would rise waist-deep, they could not cross at all, or would cross at great risk. Now, families, seniors, school children have a safe and secure bridge that gives them direct access. ?

Per the residents I spoke to there, mas sadyâ sad gyud kuno ang pamista gahapon kay dilî naman sila mabasâ sa sapa ug walâ nama'y peligro ang latayan. #hellolechon ??

Today I trekked to the mountain barangay of San Roque to inaugurate a footbridge that traverses over a river.

I walked across the concrete bridge with Nanay Elpedia Marikit. I was introduced to her last year by her daughter who said that Nanay Elpedia had accidentally fallen off the dilapidated bamboo bridge that they used to take to cross the river. Thankfully, she fully recovered from her injuries.

As we approached the other side of the bridge, Nanay Elpedia smiled and said to me, "Dili na gyud peligro akong paglabang sa sapâ, Day." (Crossing the river is no longer dangerous for me, Day.)

Construction on the footbridge started during Mayor Duke Frasco Liloan's term and I'm happy to see it to its completion today.?

We inaugurated and turned over a school building to the Elementary School of Barangay Jubay.
