LILOAN, CEBU — Liloan has officially achieved the Recognition of Active Surveillance on African Swine Fever (RAS-ASF) status from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) as of Tuesday, August 4.

The recognition was confirmed by the Provincial Veterinary Office after Liloan successfully conducted regular, rigorous monitoring and testing of its hog population—yielding entirely negative results for the virus.

Key Highlights for Liloan:

  • Trade Reopened: The RAS-ASF certification officially allows Liloan’s hog raisers to safely sell and transport live hogs and pork products to other markets and neighboring provinces.

  • Proactive Monitoring: Liloan stands among 16 local government units (LGUs) in Cebu Province praised for maintaining strict surveillance protocols against swine disease.

  • Cebu-Wide Protection: Provincial Veterinarian Mary Rose Vincoy reaffirmed that Cebu Province remains completely free of ASF as routine testing continues across all municipalities.

“This certification underscores our local swine industry’s commitment to biosecurity, ensuring safe pork products for consumers and securing the livelihoods of our local raisers.”
